I was talking to a good friend of mine via email yesterday, she lives in Ohio and these are her Top Romantic Getaway tips for Ohio:
Hocking Hills has lots of hikes, a large cave where native peoples used to live (in addition to Old Man’s Cave, where a guy allegedly used to live, that has a small waterfall); the “eye of the needle” trail where two big boulders make a small opening you walk through. Plus, Glenlaurel Inn is a Scottish Inn and Spa, and Ravenwood Castle is a fairytale place where you can dine in the castle and then retreat to your cottage, set on pretty grounds. VERY romantic. There are lots of other cabins for rent, most of them have hot tubs and fireplaces etc. and a great time to go is at thanksgiving or christmas. In summer there is a “zip line” which sounds like fun as you zoom over the trees. White water rafting happens here too.
You might want to visit Kelly’s Island, there are petroglyphs (ancient graffiti), a tour of a winery, and visiting the “glacial grooves” is very interesting (where the glacier left a big indentation in the rock.) Put in Bay has wonderful night life, with bands, “christmas in july” parties, and you can go way out on a pier and eat surrournded by the sparkling lights on the water as the sun sets. haha, can you tell i’ve had some romantic times up there myself. Just gettig to Put in Bay is fun since you cross the lake by ferry. There is also parasailing available.
